DK cotton and a 3.5 mm hook give a dense, washable fabric, perfect for a coaster or a play-kitchen pot holder. The case stripes alternate every other stitch: keep both yarns in hand and swap them at each change.
Back the piece with a plain square and close it with slip stitches for a nicely flat coaster.
