Autumn is the season of warm colours, and the maple leaf sums up the whole palette. Ours is pumpkin orange with poppy-red veins and a slightly slanted brown stem.
The chart is 15 stitches by 15 rows in four colours. The points of the leaf are worked in small touches of one or two stitches: aran wool and a 5 mm hook make them easier to read than a fine yarn.
Vary the orange, red and yellow from one leaf to the next and you get a seasonal garland or a border for an autumn throw.
