This bat has wide plum wings, a black body and two red eyes. It sits well on a garland or on the wall as soon as autumn arrives, and you can read it from across the room.
The chart is 20 stitches wide and 11 rows high, about 12 cm by 7 cm in DK acrylic with a 4 mm hook. It uses 4 colours, background included. Start with the wings in plum, then carry the black yarn behind the work for the body: the floats stay short. Work the two red eyes with a separate strand rather than carrying it across.
Read the chart from bottom to top, one row going out and one coming back, working single crochet (US) throughout. I crocheted it twice before sharing it, and the tension stays even from start to finish.
